Who We Are
Dr. Kishore Bohra Eye Charitable Trust is a leading NGO in India dedicated to restoring sight, preventing blindness, and empowering communities through healthcare, education, and awareness. Established in 1997, the trust was founded in memory of Late Dr. T. Kishore Kumar Bohra, a renowned ophthalmologist whose life mission was to make affordable eye care accessible to the poor and marginalized.
Over the last three decades, the trust has evolved into a sustainable, replicable model in partnership with the Government of India, NGOs, and private sector organizations, bringing hope and vision to millions.

Our Founder’s Legacy-
Dr. T Kishore Kumar Bohra
Dr. T Kishore Kumar Bohra (1959–1994) was a visionary ophthalmologist and pioneer in affordable eye care. Born in Chennai on 3rd September 1959, he was inspired by his maternal uncle, Dr. Surendra Bora, to pursue medicine.
After completing his MBBS at Kilpauk Medical College in 1982, he became the first student to pursue DO in Ophthalmology at Sankara Netralaya in 1985. He began serving patients through Bohra Eye Clinic, later expanding to Avadi. In 1987, he established Bohra Eye Hospital with the mission of providing compassionate, cost-effective eye care to the poor and needy.
He revolutionized cataract treatment by making surgery affordable through indigenous, low-cost plastic lenses and empowered thousands of irreversibly blind individuals with rehabilitation and education. Tragically, he passed away in a train accident on 12th September 1994. Remembered for his simplicity, fearless spirit, and dedication, his vision continues to inspire and transform lives.
